Product Description

High Flow, washable, air filters for Professional Stihl® Chainsaws with the HD filter, Models MS440, MS440R, 044, 044R, 044RZ.  Kit includes everything you need to convert your saw:  Two foam elements, (one green for standard cutting and one white for extra dirty cutting conditions), Maxflow cage, replacement rain cover, and nut plate for use without the rain cover.

MaxFlow Filters are the ONLY aftermarket filters that are 100% USFS approved.  Don't risk being shut down on Forest Service property.  Reference the (MSE) SAG HS type A.

MaxFlow air filters trap the smallest particles while flowing twice as long as stock air filters.  This helps your saw breath better during prolonged use in adverse conditions, resulting in smoother running and more power.  Unlike pleated filters, MaxFlow filter elements are washable and re-useable so they last longer and cost less.  Foam elements do require the use of foam filter oil (sold separately).

For 20 years MaxFlow filters have featured only ONE PIECE elements with no glued seams to fall apart.  No seams mean longer lasting elements with no chance for dirt to penetrate.  Don't be mislead by glued foam where gas and vibration causes the glue to fail.

MaxFlow filter kit replaces the HD2 or HD Stihl Pleated Air Filter P/N: 1124-120-1620 or 0000-120-1654

Replacement of the air filter on non HD filter equipped saws or STIHL saws with Fleece, Flocked or Screened Air Filters will require installation of the Stihl HD backing plate and other parts (not included).

  1. Must have for a Stihl 5 Star Review

The saw: 440, Dual port,8 tooth, 32"Bar and the must have MAXFLOW.

I used my Crew Bosses 460 with a MAXFLOW intake one day when my 440 was feeling under the weather, then and there I knew I needed a MAXFLOW

I use the 440 as a production whip feller/hi-slice forest succubus. With the stock setup you would have to have the chain up to speed before you choose/chose your tree, this is somewhat dangerous as you're moving in a production environment.

The MAXFLOW changes the equation with instant throttle response and no lugging and greater chain speed. You can lay the bar against a juniper and cry Stihl and let slip the chain speed. With out bogging down or stalling.

The cover is just a tough as the Stihl, My saw has rolled down a shale hillside and was catapulted 20' in the air the cover just had scuff marks on it.

My recommendation is to buy another air filter as a backup if you are daily user.

    Off to the show.

    Peace out.

I have a 2005 MS 440 that I use in my firewood gathering every year. It has the Stihl HD filter from the factory, but that filter is in constant need of cleaning, DAILY!! This is something I accepted for years. I recently found this fantastic product from a web seach. I ordered the 440 kit and an exta filter. By the way, the customer service is top notch, very friendly people and helpful.

My order arrived in I think 3 days from across the country!

THe fit and quality of the kit is just perfect, this prodect fits, and works even better than I expected! The parts are robust and will take a beating. I am going to run the filter open during nice days, and save the rain cover for rainy days or if I am in a very brushy area cutting. Make sure to oil the foam with Bel ray oil or a brand made for foam filters. I would let the filter drain the excess overnight before using the saw, since I tend to over oil the filter a bit.

MAKE SURE to open the carb needles H & L and tach the saw to keep the rpms no higher thatn the factory setting originally, very important, but easy step.

Saw runs srtonger than ever now, especially the low and mid range lugging , less bogging. Am able to restart the cut without as much bogging, will pull right up the the max rpm.

    Thank you Equitee mfg!
